Little Deaths/Little Delights, Full Moon Edition

Hello hello hellooo!! This has been a wacky week both online and offline. I got the “Biden dropped out” text in the middle of writing this and I almost dropped my laptop. First presidential dropout via Twitter?

I feel like I’ve lived a thousand lives since moving to the city and I’m gearing up to live a thousand more in the coming weeks. Been cartwheeling my way through a mix of emotions, mostly positive now. I came across this quote while reading up on tonight’s full moon and it stuck:

God is change, and so must we - Parable of the Sower, Octavia E. Butler

Good, right? Deaths and delights below.

LITTLE DEATHS

  • The Pixar Formula - I watched this thoughtful video essay from my friend-in-law Mariano that breaks down the storytelling formula trapping Pixar rn. Somehow I ended up back at the whole predictability vs randomness thing and I have a question for the room: do you guys ever feel like there’s a little storytelling algorithm in your heads dictating your output?

  • Application processes with >2 interviews - Why??

  • Spotify AI DJ - I’m done, I’m done, I’m done! I can’t take it anymore. I’m listening to the same 50 songs over and over again.

LITTLE DELIGHTS

  • Cap full moon - Apparently the Capricorn full moon is tonight? Night of endings, allegedly? Hmmmmmmmmm

  • Staring contests - 👀⚡️

  • Neighborhood friends - Sometimes I pretend I’m a little game character and life gets fun. I met a man with a pet parrot and made friends with my produce guy who I had previously been calling Mr. Produce Man, so it’s nice to put a real name to the face.
