Lesson 5 of 12 · 15 min
Everything is a box, a ball or a can
Complicated objects are made of simple forms. Find them first and the drawing holds together.
- 1Look at an object and ask: is it mostly a box, a sphere, a cylinder or a cone?
- 2Draw that simple form lightly first, as if the object were made of glass so you can see the back edges.
- 3Then carve the real shape out of it.
Try it today
Draw three things on your table as simple forms first: a book, a mug, a piece of fruit.
