Diminished, augmented and sus
About 5 minutes
Lower the fifth of a minor chord and it becomes diminished, tense and unsettled. Raise the fifth of a major chord and it becomes augmented, dreamy and unresolved.
A sus chord swaps the third for the 4th (sus4) or the 2nd (sus2). With no third it is neither happy nor sad, it hangs in the air, waiting.
