The story

It opened in the basement of Studio 54, which means the room that launched a thousand disco legends now hosts Broadway's most intimate nights. 54 Below opened on June 3, 2012, shaped by a team that included set designer John Lee Beatty and lighting designer Ken Billington. Run by four Broadway producers, it has since welcomed Patti LuPone, Barbara Cook, and Lea Salonga to its small stage. In 2022, the Tony Awards gave it an Honor for Excellence — proof that what happens underground can still define a city above.
