Church of Notre Dame

The story

Since 1913, water from the miraculous spring at Lourdes has been sent directly to this church on Morningside Drive — a living link between upper Manhattan and one of Catholicism's holiest sites. The Church of Notre Dame began in 1910 when Geraldyn Redmond donated funds to the Fathers of Mercy, a French community of priests, with one condition: build a chapel devoted to Our Lady of Lourdes. Its first administrator, Rev. Maurice Reynauld, died in France during World War I. In 2022, the parish merged with nearby Corpus Christi Church.
