Copacabana
The story
Frank Costello, one of New York's most powerful mob bosses, was the silent partner behind the Copacabana when it opened on November 10, 1940, at 10 East 60th Street. His name never appeared on the lease — Monte Proser's did. From that charged beginning, the club became the room where Martin and Lewis, Danny Thomas, and Pat Cooper made their New York debuts. It has since been immortalized in a Barry Manilow song, a 1947 Groucho Marx film, and more than a dozen movies, from Goodfellas to The Irishman.
