FusionArts Museum
The story
The original FusionArts Museum on Stanton Street succeeded in one of Manhattan's most restless neighborhoods before the space was converted into a commercial gallery in 2012. Czech-born American artist Shalom Neuman founded it under Converging Arts Media Organization, a not-for-profit dedicated to emerging fusion artists worldwide. Fusion art demands more from a gallery than traditional work does, which is why most galleries won't touch it. Neuman's project outlasted its Lower East Side address: spaces now operate in Prague and Easton, Pennsylvania, carrying forward the argument that fusion art mirrors life in the 21st century.
