Loew's Valencia Theatre
The story
A movie palace designed to resemble a Spanish and Mexican Baroque fantasy now holds Sunday services. John Eberson built the Loew's Valencia Theatre at 165-11 Jamaica Avenue in Queens, opening it on January 11, 1929, as one of five Loew's Wonder Theatres in New York City. Its 3,500-seat auditorium came equipped with a Wonder Morton pipe organ — since removed. The Tabernacle of Prayer for All People has occupied the building since 1977. It remains a New York City designated landmark, its ornate terracotta facade and finials still facing Jamaica Avenue.
