Metro Theater
The story
The interior was gutted, but the face that replaced it on Broadway never changed. Designed by Boak and Paris between 1932 and 1933 in the Art Deco style, the Metro Theater rose three and a half stories at 2626 Broadway, its terracotta facade divided into three vertical sections and crowned with a polychromed medallion. Inside, a proscenium arch once held niches with statues. The theater closed in 2005, was split and then demolished within, yet the original facade survived and now stands as a New York City designated landmark.
