Minskoff Theatre
The story
A Broadway theater sits on the third floor of an office tower, with an entire building section resting directly on its roof. The Minskoff opened in 1973 inside One Astor Plaza, named after the building's developers, Sam Minskoff and Sons. It was among the first theaters built under the Special Theater District amendment of 1967, and was added to the tower's plans only after the building was initially proposed without any theater at all. Its roughly 1,710 seats have since welcomed musicals, dance companies, and concerts.
