The story

Rockwood Music Hall closed in November 2024 without a formal announcement — no goodbye, no last call, just silence on Allen Street. Ken Rockwood, known as The Professor, had opened the small bar and venue in 2005, tucking three stages into a Lower East Side address: one intimate room downstairs, two larger ones above. Before they were famous, Sara Bareilles, Lady Gaga, and Mumford & Sons all played here. In 2013 Rockwood added its own record label. Its quiet disappearance felt like losing a secret the whole city somehow knew.
