Sony Hall
The story
The 1945 film Diamond Horseshoe was shot in this basement. Opened in 1938 beneath the Paramount Hotel as Billy Rose's Diamond Horseshoe nightclub, the room later became a burlesque house, then a Broadway theater under three different names. It is best known in that chapter for hosting the Tony Award-winning original production of On Golden Pond in 1979. After decades mostly shuttered, a twenty-million-dollar renovation brought it back in 2013. Now run by Blue Note Entertainment Group, it operates as a live music venue showcasing Sony's audio and visual technology.
