The Bell House

The story

John Hodgman filmed his Netflix comedy special here on December 21, 2012, a date chosen because it marked the end of the Mayan calendar. The Bell House opened in Brooklyn in September 2008 and quickly became a room where things got recorded — NPR's Ask Me Another taped here regularly, Charlotte Gainsbourg played it early, and a concert film starring Reggie Watts and Kristen Schaal went on to premiere at SXSW. The place has a knack for capturing moments that outlast the night.
