Victoria Theater

The story

It cost $250,000 to build and was immediately hailed as one of the largest and most beautiful theaters in greater New York. Thomas W. Lamb designed it in 1917 for Loew's Corporation as a 2,394-seat palace for vaudeville and motion pictures, complete with an organ, backstage dressing rooms, and all the provisions a live performance could demand. It anchored a Harlem block already thick with theaters. Largely demolished in 2017, its facade and lobby now anchor the tallest building in Manhattan north of Central Park.
