White Manna

The story

The diner sitting on Tonnele Avenue in Jersey City is the same physical building that debuted at the 1939 New York World's Fair, where it was called the "diner of the future" and an "introduction to fast food." Louis Bridges bought it after the fair and opened it as the first White Manna, eventually owning five diners under that name. It claims to have invented the slider, though it is more accurately one of the last surviving mid-century imitators of White Castle. The building, made by Paramount Dining Car Company, is still standing and still serving.
